The Chester County Barbeque Festival is annual three day event held on the first week-end of October and sponsored by the Chester County Chamber of Commerce. Chester County is the whole hog Barbeque capitol of the world, and serves it’s nationally recognized specialty-whole hog, Barbequed over an open pit.
Plenty of music, singing, acts, and comedy, along with arts and craft booths, antique car show, games and activities for the young and young at heart can be found at the festival. Held around the courthouse in downtown Henderson, this festival enhances our small town charm.
Don't miss Chester County’s Inaugural Community Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Events include the opening and prayer, lighting of the Christmas tree, and the singing of Christmas carols.
The Henderson Christmas Parade is held the first Thursday night of December at 7:00 p.m. The parade features Santa Claus, bands, floats and performance groups. The parade route begins at the First Baptist Church and continues down Main Street to the four-way stop at Church Street.
Visit Chickasaw State Park while visiting Chester County, this 14,400-acre Park and forest was once part of a vast area belonging to the Chickasaw Nation prior to the Jackson Purchase of 1818. Numerous miles of fire roads and trails wind through the scenic timberlands which embraces Lake Placid. The park offers 12 vacation cottages, 110 camping sites, a completely equipped lodge for up to 40 persons, hiking trail, tennis courts, basketball courts, archery range, badminton court, horseshoe pits, lighted ball field, playground, volleyball court and horseback riding in the summer. Held in December, this annual event, sponsored by Friends of Chickasaw State Park and local businesses, brings visitors from all over! Volunteers dress the park with beautiful hand-made decorations and thousands of hand-lit luminaries set along the roadways and in Lake Placid for a driving tour. A sight to behold and a great way to get the family in the spirit of the season! Bring the children to visit Santa. Donations accepted.

Held in June at Chickasaw State Park, this is a celebration of yesteryear- the good 'ol days" with fun for the whole family! Sue Shelton White, suffragist, equal rights advocate, attorney, and writer, was born and reared in Henderson. White joined the woman suffrage movement in 1912.
Working to increase support for suffrage in Tennessee, she served as recording secretary for the Tennessee Equal Suffrage Association beginning in 1913.
White helped write the 1923 Equal Rights Amendment, sponsored by the National Women's Party (NWP). White returned to Jackson, Tennessee, and practiced law from 1926 to 1930. She also served as an attorney to help implement the Social Security Act while working in D.C.
After a long bout with cancer, White died on May 6, 1943, in Alexandria, Virginia.
